I've mentioned this to the kids. Please print out a registration form and SEND IN WITH YOUR CHILD IF YOU'RE INTERESTED and I'll mail them together. What a wonderful way to show our love to my little friend, Stuart, in New York City!
We will start training some during recess when it warms up! Please join me!!!

ReplyDeleteI want to receive Journal update notification e-mails.
Stuart has thrived since coming home from the hospital last week. He's eating well (for him), sleeping pretty well and as we mentioned the other day, speaking and moving great! It amazes us that Stuart has made so much progress virtually on his own. It's a testament to his strength and determination as well as his passion for playing "guys" with his big brother Bo. Over the past few days we've watched Stuart play with various Star Wars and superhero figurines and we almost forget about the battle his body is fighting and what he's gone through over the past seven weeks. Despite the posterior fossa syndrome Stuart remembers song lyrics from before his surgery. Favorites include "No Surprise" by Daughtry, "Mamma Mia" and "Who Let The Dogs Out." Don't ask. He also remembers each and every superhero and Star Wars character, even the obscure ones. This morning we were cracking up listening to him talk about Bobba Fett knocking Kit Fisto's lightsaber out of his hand and that Kitt Fisto was going to "knock him down." He also laughs hysterically when he sees pictures of certain villains like Egghead and M.O.D.O.K. We can't believe Stuart is two and not eight. But he is so happy being home with Bo and having "normal" days.
We did have to make a quick trip to the hospital today for a checkup and blood work but it was the quickest (only 90 minutes!), easiest trip we've had to MSKCC to date. Stuart was in a good mood and actually let the nurse practitioner examine him without putting up too much of a fight. She said that Stuart looked amazing and that his blood counts were strong - we are all set for round two of chemo to start Monday. Until then we plan to relax and have fun...and give Stuart a shower! It will be the first proper "bath" he's had since his diagnosis more than seven weeks ago. Hopefully he'll enjoy it. What little hair he has left must be filthy despite our efforts with dry shampoo.
Speaking of hair, we are so thankful to our neighbor Owen Kimmel for choosing to shave his head in honor of Stuart. The "shaving" event will occur tomorrow. Tristan Cooley is also shaving his head in honor of his sister Katie-Belle and has included Stuart on his team as well. They are doing this through an amazing organization called St. Baldrick's Foundation (www.stbaldricks.org -- check out their pages!). We have been so humbled and overwhelmed by the love and support of friends, family, co-workers and even strangers. Just knowing that there are so many good people out there makes each day a little brighter.
I can't wait but my mom said if she was going she is going to walk "Boaring" right? But it will be so much fun. Have you seen the movie Lillie on the website it was really sad):I am glad that I don't have it.

I’m really sorry if we don’t get read all day or pajama day. I’m only saying this because I’m not doing Lilies Race. I don’t want everybody to miss out on this prize for helping someone! Everyone deserves to know why I’m not doing it, I might be going to the beach or a the Greensboro science Center. I promise to bring something back from either of them.
ReplyDeleteREALLY REALLY SORRY,
Taylor:(
I couldn't do it.:( I am so sorry Stuart! At least I care!!! :)
